Help with photo uploads

Having trouble uploading your photo to RevGenRocks? Here are some common issues that could be causing you trouble.

  1. 1) Funky characters in your filenames. Files with special characters such as #, $, &, etc. will cause errors. Files with spaces in their file name (such as "my photo.jpg") could also be problematic. Please rename your file and try uploading again.
  2. 2) High Resolutions. Some digital cameras take photos at a resolution higher than the web's standard of 72dpi. Uploading a higher res photo might not work depending on your operating system and browser. Try using a photo editor to save a copy of your image at 72dpi, and uploading this smaller version.
  3. 3) Files of Unusual Size. All files must be 4 megs or less to upload to the server. If yours are larger, you'll need to use photo editing software to resize them and get the filesize under the cap.
  4. 4) Vintage Flash Players. RevGenRocks works best with Flash Player 10 - if your Flash version is older, it will have a hard time uploading photos - especially large ones. Go to www.adobe.com/flashplayer to download the latest player.
  5. 5) Your True Colors. While rare, it's possible that your image files may be encoded in a CMYK color format, whereas Flash and the web use RGB color format. You may need to open photo editing software and convert your image to RGB format, then resave it.

If you've tried all the suggestions above and are still having issues, please email us and let us know your operating system, web browser, and Flash player, so that we can troubleshoot.
